Doctor of Science Program

Dr. Sushma Mishra is the director of SCIS’ D.SC. program.

My number one priority as director is to highlight and communicate the unique value that this program provides to people seeking a terminal degree in an applied field such as information systems. We balance rigor and relevance. The research product developed at the end of program is taken to organizational settings and critically considered to solve a real-world problem. My faculty colleagues and I believe that project a valuable way of adding to the cumulative body of knowledge while being useful in day-to-day work situations.

The biggest strengths of this program include its structure and the dedication of the faculty. Completing course work and individual research in three years requires real dedication from students and faculty members. We are able to accomplish this as a team, and as a result we have one of the highest graduation rates you’ll find in any advanced degree program.

Our students are investigating real organizational problems. They are taking the skills they have learned and the solutions they have uncovered to their work place to address relevant concerns. This applicability of knowledge is a hallmark of RMU’s D.Sc.

There are multiple objectives and goals in getting a doctorate in information systems and communications. We see students who want

- a promotion at workplace

-the tools to solve significant problems

-to give back to the community

-to be at the forefront of innovative research and innovation in IT

-to educate and inform the workforce and educators of tomorrow.
