From the perspective of program students and graduates:

This has been a wonderful program beginning with my cohort to the professors. The care that was taken to pull a diverse group of individuals was nothing less than genius. "The Family" has made this process an even more wonderful experience as I have 17 sets of ears to bounce thoughts, topics, and ideas off, as well as men and women that I truly value and have built life-long friendships.

In understanding that we all lead busy and sometimes chaotic lives, the professors work with me and the cohort to make sure the concepts are not only understood, but that we also have the ability to perform homework and tasks with confidence.

The Information Systems and Communications degree is a terminal degree and was a selling point for where I want to grow in the future. For anyone looking to expand their field of experience, this program is challenging, but more so, rewarding.

Lisa Raymond (Cohort 18, anticipated degree conferral in 2019)

The program offered my cohort the flexibility to learn and grow while managing the other aspects of our personal and professional lives. This is critical because we did not have to reinvent ourselves for the sake of gaining the doctorate degree.

In addition, the professors provided us a balanced scholarly and practical learning experience that complimented our daily lives.

Finally, people will say a doctorate is a doctorate; but if there is one thing I will always remember, and as Dr. Fred Kohun would always say, a good dissertation is a done dissertation. That is what I cherished the most out of the program. People are respected not because of the letters behind their name but because of the contribution they provide to society at large.

From the perspective of the faculty:

RMU’s D.Sc. is an interdisciplinary program fostering engaged scholarship and academic excellence. It is presented in a flexible format, which allows students to balance their research endeavors with work and family life.

I enjoy teaching in this program because many students are advanced practitioners and thought leaders in government, industry and education. The faculty-student interactions are quite stimulating, which is very rewarding to me as an academic.

Students benefit from not only a rich, challenging academic environment but also a friendly, close-bonded cohort structure.
